Suddenly Susan

Jeesh. Just when this blog closes Sony decides to send the flying monkeys. In a post a while back we posted insider information from a source that claimed that Senior Director of PSN Marketing, Susan Panico allegedly slept with her boss Peter Dille (VP of PSN) and that's how she got her current position. Although this was sourced from insider information, and never at any point claimed to be correct, nor did we make any accusations, Susan Panico cried to the SCEA flying monkeys. The letter seen here was sent to FORMER blog poster Kapow. Probably because he was the only one they could track down. (Bet you wished you weren't so flamboyant about your PSN id now, eh Kapow?) Kapow has requested the post THAT I POSTED be removed, and any mention that Susan Panico allegedly slept with her boss Peter Dille be taken down. So I complied with his wishes, simply because I consider him a friend. I'm in no way intimidated by James G. Gilliland Jr. who can be seen here in his Halloween Costume dressed as Steve Forbes:

So regal. Anywho, hopefully this'll end any thoughts or references to Susan Panico allegedly sleeping with her boss Peter Dille. I hope SCEA's stomping on the 1st amendment ends here, but I'm well aware that Susan Panico allegedly sleeping with her boss Peter Dille isn't the biggest one of their concerns. And even though this blog NEVER AT ANY POINT MADE THIS CLAIM NOR SAID THERE WAS ANY TRUTH BEHIND IT, we will comply with SCEA's wishes to remove the reference to Susan Panico allegedly sleeping with her boss Peter Dille.

DrGadget: The other Home-Watch

Seems things are getting a little bit tense over at the Playstation Home forums. It was proven long ago that you can't naysay anything Sony related on the Playstation Forums. However, the moderator DrGadget has taken it a step further. The original poster states:

If you were to rate PSH and the devs what would be the rating. From 1-10. 1 Being unsatisfied and 10 being, I LOVE HOME AND EVERYTHING OMI GWAD!!! FREAK OUT!!!! and why.

Im curious, because from what im hearing from my home buddies and what not...home just went PFFFT and so did its devs.
Trust me im not ranting or anything, or bashing.

So yea i would give it like a 5.0 out of 10. Why? Well.....Home has does what its been created to do, play and socialize with other PSN Members.
Play - A mini game comes out (like Gamescom or FIFA ARENA) people rush to it (im fine with that) and get it with the matter of several days or minutes...or a minute. The games that are at PSH are entetaining for a while, so far the only games worth playing is Pool, Chess and Bowling. Sorry but the Carnival din't cut it for me - pay to play (well i got all prizes anyway), the games are fairly easy to figure out (as in it speeds up or there is a pattern). I dont know, the games in home just are eh...i stick to bowling and pool.
Socialize - Im not gonna get into that because no one can stop males being females, along with the harresment torwards other users.

The devs just dissapointed me, delays, promises that were not full filled of "soon". You guys do a great job try to do a great job, and i bet you do...but as of now it seems like everything is being slapped together just to keep us happy and well...so we keep spending our money. I do like the items, you guys do great with that. The spaces...well i rather have a space announced with pictures or major details 2 weeks before release so people maybe can help out or something. Spaces should take a little more time with the help of the community. With the delays im fine because when you guys say "delay" im thinking major bugs or issues with companies. The promises...well....if you promise something dont say "soon" say in "near future", or keep us updated on the promises.

So what you guys think?

Other than the bloody disaster of grammar & spelling, the poster makes a great point, and was very good in conveying it. However DrGadget goosestepped on it with a Sony-heil and conveyed the biggest over-reaction ever:

This thread looks like a cross between a poll, a popularity contest, and a petition. None of those are allowed here.

What you're doing is looking for other people to address the devs you personally dislike and give them low ratings. This in turn would justify your anger with them. And then presumably you would go back to confront them and say "Everyone at the PSN forums gave you a 2." [Good job jumping to conclusions and pointing fingers DrGayget.]

These forums are primarily designed for discussion, in terms of relaying information about Playstation-based gaming and other features.

Creating a poll to give you more ammunition to launch a hate attack against one or more of the Home devs is not a discussion.

Wow, talk about having your panties in a wad. Much like the idiot zealots that populate Home, any criticism is immediately disregarded as "hate." Perhaps if assclowns like DrGadget and other PSN flunkies would listen to criticism once in a while, the whole PSN wouldn't be the massive joke it has become.

I was doing some research when I found an old article: Sony Blackballs Kotaku (UPDATED) This article is pretty dated, but shows first hand how piss poor people at SCEA are at their jobs. When grasping wind of Home's creation, Kotaku posted a story about it. In classic Sony fashion, they attempted to blackmail the website in order to prevent the article. I was reading the comments of a previous post when I found TwilightVenom posted some interesting URLs, which he was smart enough to back up. He did what many of us have done recently, which was question the numbers Home keeps talking about. The conversation had no insults, no violations of Sony/Lithium's laundry list of rules. However, it was deleted. Which can only mean one thing. It was a conversation that threatened Home's already poor credibility, so it was removed in order to prevent further damage to egos. Home says: FUCK YOU CANADA (Again)

In the past we have made effort to expose Home's bias towards the Canadian people. I think We've done it once or twice.... or three, four, maybe five times.

Well it's time for another episode of:

Over the last 24 hours I've gotten four emails from Canadians about their Canadian based topics being removed. In this time of World Cup, it's a possibility someone over there is a bit bias towards the threat to American spirit. First there was this topic, Canada's Top Avatar. This is in the long line of folks who have created these types of topics, however only the Canadian one has been closed. Then there was the "O Canada Dance Party" which was shoveled off to the Clubs & Events graveyard. Then there's this topic. Oh, and this topic. Honestly I could post links all day, but I think the point has been driven.

This is especially insulting to the top half of North America due to the fact that CANADIANS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN HOME EVENTS OR CONTESTS. Please, if you have an example of this constant Canadian bias, please email us to let us know.

Mr_Lochwood - Resident Bully

According to a censored / deleted topic, a user was threatened by the Home elite. Mr_Lochwood, also known around Home as "Oh god not him again," has been regurgitating his usual brand of self-righteous vomit to other users. You might recall months back Mr_lamewood getting into a tiff due to him giving away PSN cards in user created contests. Well that got shut down, and hence he is now policing other users doing the same thing. Apparently the concept of buying friends on Home is exclusively his.

Ask for refund, your topic is locked

On the tech support graveyard today I noticed a locked topic. Being the curious person I am, I was drawn to it. It made it to three posts and was locked. No explanation from staff. It seems asking about a refund seems to be the quickest way to get your topic locked. From the topic:

I don't do too much on Home section forums, because frankly they are full of idiots. I actually never heard of this blog until after I saw multiple mentions of it on the secret moderator parts of the community forums. Let me say, I don't use home, and I don't have it installed. It's far too lame to really get into. I spent maybe a week wandering around it trying to find people to play street fighter with. I'm unsure why home is even needed to find other players, because truth be told, most games have easy to manage ways of meeting people IN THE FUCKING GAME. Home is a useless disaster and I applaud you for tearing into it, even if you enjoy using it or whatever. I wanted to let you know that even though I am a mod, I think your blog is awesome. It's really unfair that they went out of their way to block you. And yes, they did block you for no other reason then the fact that you present a risk to their profits. Playstation makes good money off stupid people. That's why they hired Lithium. Don't think just because someone is a mod that they like Lithium. They don't pay me a damn dime for the countless hours of nitpick patroling I do. All money in Lithium's pocket. Please keep up the good work and don't let them get you down, because you scare the hell out of them!

Heavy flow month

Looking over the first few pages of the forums has made me think: "WTF is wrong with these mods?" They seem to lock pretty much every single topic posted no matter what the content. Since the 27th of last month mods have locked 76 topics.

Some of you will be aware that I have been away for a week, I posted a couple of threads a day or two ago mostly relating to the amount of hassle my wife received from the immature brainless idiots that flock around the women on PS HOME, she must have received 15-20 friend requests as well as some horrible PM's.

While I was way my wife explained that one day she was in the bowling alley & it became obvious that a father was teaching his child, a girl how to play bowling, well it didn't take long before they were heckled, the father was told to **bleep** off pop pop & some of them went behind the young girl & did that dance that looks like its simulating sex from behind, my wife said it was disgusting, the other players all stuck up for the father & his daughter & apologized for them & said its not always like this, unfortunately this kind of childish behavior is becoming all to frequent.

You may wonder what all this has to do with the picture above, well I'll tell you, not 5 minutes before I was warned for my language, by the way all that happened was I got a bad split & I typed in oh **bleep**, exactly like that with the * too, that was why i was warned, anyway not 5 minutes before all this there was an idiot crouching down in front of anything that moved, mostly women, but sometimes the men too, he was horrible & offensive, where was the bloody MOD when there is 'REAL' trouble going on.

Do me a favor MOD, go after the 'REAL' offenders, not people like me who did nothing to offend anyone.

SONY ATTEMPTS TO SILENCE CRITICS

If you are coming to this blog due to the incoming shit storm we have prepared for Sony & the crybabies at Lithium, welcome.

I am writing this as a bit of a mini-faq for the press or anyone else interested in censorship. Our missions statements can be seen in the right column of this blog. Simple, average stuff that anyone would want when paying for a service. What ended up happening is we have caused so much of a stir on the forums that they have attempted to hide our existence as much as humanly possible.

Originally the first wave was when people started linking us in their signatures. Their excuse: "bad language." At that time there was only one bad word on the entirety of the blog, which was a blog tag labeled "bullshit." Even after removing this, they still wouldn't allow people to link in their signatures. So users began to circumvent this by just pasting the address on their signature images. This too was thwarted with extreme prejudice. If anyone posted a link on the forums, even without knowing that this blog is heavily disliked by Sony, the post was deleted and the users warned or banned.

However this wasn't the end, as one of our staff sent one of the head Home staff a link to one of our blog posts, asking a simple question. "Is this allowed?" I guess a light bulb went off in their heads when they realized that the url to a Home criticism blog could easily be relayed via the forums' private message system. As can be seen in our previous post, they have taken measures to prevent this. Which is just as easy to circumvent as any of their other measures to censor their critics.

We have embarrassed Sony/Home many, many times. We have exposed them for everything from covering up rape threats, to exposing the fact that their forums are run by off duty school bus drivers.

So I am asking the fans/viewers of this blog to help show the egg-on-face censorship of Sony. I ask that you submit this blog post to some of the more respected video game journalism groups. And by respected I mean not IGN, Gamespot, Gamespy, or Yahoo! Games. More along the lines of sites that don't worry about how Sony might revoke their advertising. Sites such as Destructoid, 1up, Kotaku, or Joystiq.

Screening for Comments

Some folks have been concerned about the comment moderation on this blog. A few even upset. I figured I'd give a heads up about why.

Before you cry hypocrite, let me state: BITE ME. A personal blog done by unpaid people, with a purpose of changing something is different then Home. Home is a business, with paying customers. It takes funds, and restricts useage of the product they sell. It's like if you bought a Sony TV and they told you "we decide when you watch TV." I started this blog in order to accomplish that.

Going through comments of older posts, let me state there is no shortage of negative comments about the blog, us, and people who support us. However, towards the end of January the blog started to suffer attacks from those we expose. These attacks started off as just idiotic posts, (One of them said: "Close the blog Spongefag Shitpants!" although it is kind of funny.) Over the span of a week I was forced to remove tons of spamming trolls' posts, and it got to be a real headache. Here are examples of critical comments, and spam.

Someone wants attention. Poster should of just sent this to lochwood instead of wanting it to be seen by the world. Stick with Home problems and not personal attacks Home-watch.
Dude pull the dick out of your ass faggot

One is constructive, one isn't. Sadly, the latter type began to fill up the comments page. When I started this blog I could go a full day without having to check the blog. I got email alerts, so I could read all the comments as I pleased, without digging. But then after crapping on a select few people, the comment fields began getting idiotic. I turned on the captcha and it kept happening, although slower. Even though I strongly disagree with Sony's censorship, I wouldn't blink an eye nor get upset if they removed posts that were nothing more then "Dude pull the dick out of your ass faggot." They're pointless, non-constructive, and they're only posted to get people worked up, and for admins to remove. That way they can play the "boo hoo censorship" card. Sorry, I'm a little smarter then you, I see through it, and I will continue to eliminate pointless garbage.

I plan to turn off the moderation for comments today, because I hate babysitting each and every comment, and having to hear my phone go off every 5 minutes when a new comment shows up in my email. I've been working very diligently to identify the spammers in question, I have traced most of them to location, what times they spam, etc. I will locate you. I will expose you.

No more beating around the bush.

This is an awesome forum post. Even though the Lithium rent-a-cops are editing everyone's posts. They kinda remind me of security guards at a mall. Useless unless they're irritated.

Lets have a look.

Home is a stiff and lifeless world with so-so graphics and poor ambience. As one review put it, the environment is sterile and very limited as far as interactivity goes. Many spaces are incredibly dull and mostly devoid of ambient sounds. The interface is bland and boring to look at. The only gaming-related feature we have is universal game launching. Except for the latter, Home is completely isolated from the PlayStation Network. The absence of the Trophy Room/Hall of Fame is especially jarring, since it's been in the works for a very long time. This space would make Home a much more interesting place for gamers, but apparently Sony doesn't care about what we want. All they care about is shoving content down our throats to make a quick buck and to take our focus off of Home's numerous issues.

As one user put it (can't remember your username, sorry), Home isn't evolving, it's just getting flabbier. Sony is taking on much more than it can handle with the weekly content updates, and we're the ones who suffer because of it. Here's a thought, why don't you get all the kinks worked out before you dump a boatload of content on our laps? Seems like nobody at Sony has the guts to say "Hey, we screwed up big time, we should hold back for a while and try to figure out what went wrong before we release any new content".

No doubt some users will tell me that I don't "understand" Home, or some such nonsense, but that's just evading the issue. So I was browsing through the Sony forums looking for new things to bag on them for. What I got was so juicy and yummy I couldn't help it.



Cobra1, aka "Cobra Girl," Is a moderator for Lithium. The folks that work extra hard to make sure everything you do or say is censored. Well, luckily, she links her Twitter account in her signature. Why is beyond me, because of this little tidbit:

Beep beep. She's a bus driver. Not only is that hilarious in itself, but she actually lists it BEFORE working for Lithium. The forums that harbor the Home forums are run by bus drivers. (Well, one confirmed, the others strongly suspected) I always thought Sony's forums smelled like cigarettes and armpit. Let's check some of her tweets:

hi love the blog wanted to say i have a problem! i am a black guy about 16. there is a lot of racism on home. i talked to this girl for a bit and a guy friend of hers came up and called me a nigger. he used seperated bubbles to do it but i was like wtf. she asked him to stop but then he called her a nigger lover. she was like wtf and took him off her list and he got real mad and started ranting that i was a jiggaboo porch monkey nigger darkie anything he could think of. we both blocked him and then he started messaging us on the xmb so we left to another part of home. later i was on the forums and i got like 30 messages from him all racist stuff. i asked her to check hers and she had more then me. so we reported him. this was like two months ago and he still bugs both of us. we report him on home for stalking cause we have him muted. im sure hes saying bad stuff but you cant report what you cant see. we report him on the forums. we posted a topic on the home forums about it asking why no one is listening to us. it got deleted and got a pm saying you cant use ppls names. so i reposted it without his name asking why no action has been done. i got a four day ban for spamming. those were the only posts i posted since may how is that spam?? why cant we get this racist stalker to leave us alone and why wont staff do ANYTHING??? please post this to show ppl home is lazy and would rather cover a problem then fixing it!!

We apologize that you had to go through that. Racism on home is rarely addressed. It's a sad and unfortunate thing. Be sure that if this type of stuff happens, we will be here to allow you to have a voice.

Oh, where to start..

First, I'm Known as [name removed]! Yup that's me!! Now don't get the name wrong, he's usually a pretty nice guy, I mean I have several great friends that I hang with online, (like [name removed] and his wife) usually at Scorpio's bar. But, I also tend to speak my mind and sometimes, if not often usually tend to speak it kinda bluntly, especially when someone double crosses me, like Sony and Lithium have. But I thought I would explain a few things and hopefully clear some things up.

First, we all know home is FREE, and it does say beta.. but they (meaning Sony) can not use beta as an excuse, when you buy something, buy law they have to provide it. For some reason, Sony has a hard time dealing with that issue, so yes, I voiced my opinion on a lot of missing or falsely advertised items. I did this so other buyers could be aware of the issue, and avoid it. At this current time, I'm unemployed so any amount of money I spend is valuable, and Sony is not going to take my money and then not give me what I bought or just parts of it. In fact, I wouldn't let any company do that, regardless of the fact of employment. I mean would you walk into your local Fail*Mart and buy something and then get it home and it not work, would you keep it? No.. I think you would return it... or would you order online and then wait 10 years for them to ship it.. No.. I think you would be calling them. Well, seems how Sony has no phone support for home, what other means can you go about to get support other then the forums? So, yes, I posted there, and I posted a lot! And, yes.. I did help a few users out as well, by giving tours of my places. I enjoyed it! But Lithium took that away by giving me a 4 day ban for spamming the forums. Oh, and here is the quote on why I was banned for that. "You were banned for spamming 'Well in before the delete / lock LOL.'" Yes, I replied to a thread that should of been deleted or locked with just the words: "In before the lock" and boom banned. Now, to me spamming is sending the same message over and over again in the forums, or something that goes to and advertising link. But anyways, I sent an email and a person by the name of Alan Savage, answered, rudely. In fact any contact I had with them were rude and vague. 2 days later another member of my household used their account to access the forums, and they were banned as well for 14 days, along with my account to 14 days. This really ticked me off. How can they ban members, not knowing their family situation. Tell me where it says "only 1 account per household." So I wrote Allen about this and yes, I was a little blunt, I also threaten to seek a lawyer, since their forums are the only way we can get support for HOME. You can not by LAW stop someone from getting support for their products. The response from him was a permanent ban. Personally I'm done with them now, especially after the PS3 got a YLOD, and will cost 177.00 to fix.

Now for several weeks, I now have a contact at Sony, that any time that I have problems I can call a direct number, and no I won't give it out, because he's been nice to help me and I don't want him flooded with a million requests. I was also able to get a good friends missing items back as well. And in my conversations with my contact, I have informed him of their forums and of lithium's banning procedures and the rudeness they offer as their customer service. I said, Jake (real name changed) I hate to tell you, this so called company that runs your forums also represent you, if they leave a sour taste in peoples mouth, it also makes Sony look bad, and he actually agreed. Jake, is going to be looking into who was responsible for picking lithium as their forums and send me the details that I can fully voice my opinion on Lithium. I also, ask him about all the home problems, like who are we suppose to contact when we have problems with home items, because we get the run around when we call the 800 number. His response was "It's funny you mentioned that, because we just had a meeting about that, and the answer is, you should now contact the 800 number and they should send you to the correct department, this issue has been brought up about sending people to the forums for help and should be fixed now." So to make some things clear, you are to call the 800-345-7669 and ask for the network department, or you call directly, but you will be charged for long distance at (866) 286-5123. Then tell them your problem, and people don't let them push you around. Stand up for yourself, and be firm if you have to. Above all of that though, when you call them, voice your opinion on home forums, the mods/managers and Lithium. It's is only through US that they will be aware of these problems. If we remain silent nothing will be fixed or nothing will be done about all the crap going on. See, I look at it this way.. you can let people piss on you.. or you can return the favor, and personally no one pisses on me, and I will fight if I have to, and as a consumer of Sony, I shouldn't have to. I mean what ever happened to customer service with this company? Jake is still looking into a few things, I'll update when I find out more information.

Like you said in your previous blog, we are home users, we are a home community, where would it be with out us? I love home and the people there, it's great fun, and I am back on home using a Slim for the time being, and it's great to be back and just in time for the new update for Thursday, although I will not be posting the faulty items I find on the forums, I'll post them here LOL. Since Lithium likes to try and stop people from getting support for Sony products.

Also, I ask another favor to anyone who has suffered with any of the problems with YLOD of falsely advertised items, to contact: http://www.lawyerseek.com/Practice/Consumer-Protection-C21/Playstation-3-Yellow-Light-of-Death-P212/ Maybe if we get enough people to do that, they continue to investigate this and bring a class action lawsuit on Sony and possibly Lithium.
