HVC Communicates With Home Watch

Over the last few days in another blog post, HCV's have been dropping by and sharing their thoughts. I have also had one HCV chatting with me via email. However they requested we don't post the emails. I'd like to publicly thank the HCV for coming forward on the Conrad_Max issue.

As one of the HCVs I can tell you that Conrad only made it into the program because of his constant ass kissing. He does not bring anything else to the table. Most of us in the program try to keep a pretty low profile in the forum, unlike Conrad. Some of are petitioning to have him removed because he flaunts his position and is less than helpful to users in Home.

Please understand that most of the HCV team is very helpful in Home and do not act like jackasses such as Conrad_Max.

As yet another anonymous HCV I'm going to tell you that Conrad is the product of the military. He goes on big reporting sprees on Home, encourages it all throughout the forums, he even posts his satisfaction of doing these things in the private forum. He's also a mod in SOE's Everquest Online under the name Bookend who screwed up that community with his dictator ways. He logs more hours than the rest of us online in the HCV program, but what good is logging a bunch of hours if all you're going to do in that time is self-promote and report the crap out of people mercilessly? On one occassion he divulged NDA details us staying on around round to another community user who decided to post it publicly on the forums. Want to know what the bastard did? He made a post in the private forums telling us all a reminder to not break the NDA. What a hypocrite, he's the stain of the HCV program. I wish they'd kick him out and get someone with some class but they're not going to. Unfortunately all of the sheeple on the public forums think he's God's gift to man or something, he's a joke and an obvious troll.

Personally, I'm just embarrassed that he's an HCV. It's so frustrating when you're trying to do a good job both on Home and on the forums, and he just comes in and fucks everything up. Is he ever going to realize what he's doing? Doubtful. He really is single-handedly blackening the name of HCV, and widening the gap between HCVs and the Home Community.

I'd love it if he were to be removed from the HCVs; maybe then (and after we've gotten rid of a few other ass-kissers) HCVs won't be seen with such disdain.

Progress?

Over the last couple of weeks, there has been a few things happening. Good things for a change. I'd like to bring attention to them. First is this topic by Locust_Star:

I've discussed some of this with users via PM, but today this little nugget of good news came down for you all that are still waiting for certain items to be recovered:

"For users that have lost reward items, we are planning to have an extended maintenance in March to merge the lost rewards we have been able to recover with the current live database. Details will be announced at a later date."

You heard it right, you'll finally get some of those lost items!

A little late reporting this we're aware, but it goes to show you, people pissing and moaning is starting to get some action. Broken stuff isn't being tolerated anymore, and folks haven't just sucked it up. To the home community, minus the useless HCV, thank you. Your non-stop complaining got progress. We just hope you don't stop. And thanks to Locust_Star who has picked up the pace with the bugs and communication.

I, Kapow, wanted to make a quick statement: Home Community Volunteers, you are not special. You are not important. You are useless. We, the Home community, have no need for you. Stop being arrogant. Stop being pretentious. Stop.

Hmmm, I see I was a little vague when I said, "I've never met one before." What I meant was, I had never actually seen one inside of Home before. In the 'wild'. I've seen things they've written in the forums and twitter and such. Many of them have their accounts private for this very reason. I guess they're not very confident in themselves to not post things that will fuck 'em over. But the point is, yea, of course you'll see them in the forums giving each other kudos' and playing tiddlywinks and what-not, but they are supposed to help people in Home. Which is kind of hard when they're all in one instance playing grab ass with their friends. Seriously, if you're not "in the know," good luck finding one. They're like the fucking Blue Footed Bubi or something.

Yea, that about sums it all up.

Personal Space Virtual Tours

cbeyond made a thread over at the 'Sony' forums that is filled with (26) links to Youtube videos of her giving tours of different personal spaces, even tours of personal spaces from other regions. There's more tours of other personal spaces coming soon.
See, that's all you have to do Sony, walk through each personal space while recording video of it then post it on the PS blog, or the forums, or Youtube, or in Home itself. Kind of like you used to do with new clothes each week. This pretty much eliminates the need, if there ever was a need to begin with, for an HCV 'program'.

GET LOUD!

This blog gets a lot of mixed reactions. Especially since we single out and pick on people. It's usually for the greater good, and hell, it's funny. But the main point is this: We believe in the possibility of Home, we are Home users, and we are upset.

The issues with Home are many. The constant sexual harassment, the massive amount of bugs that remain unresolved, the complete disregard of it's users by the staff, and many other issues. We would like to address the Home community, and see if we can rally you to make a change.

Now, there are a LOT of folks who are upset with the direction Home has taken. If you read the forums, no one has any confidence in the staff's abilities, and are disappointed. Recently groups have sprung up to help work on Home's problems. Now, we're all for people voicing their opinions. God knows the good folks of Lithium and the HCM combined have worked hard to silence any naysayers. However, there's one issue that these groups aren't addressing.

The Home Community Management Team, and the forum staff at Lithium do not listen to anything that you say or do.

Now you can create all these themed clubs, give them cute nicknames, and hold debates all you like. The combined efforts of Lithium/HCM have worked very hard to silence anything that would give Home any bad press. You can complain, but if it's on their turf and they are the ones that determine what you can and cannot say. So let me explain the roles of those who are the biggest roadblocks.

1. Lithium. Lithium is a company of web development hacks. Fifteen minutes on their forums can give you a very good idea of how awful the forum setup is. However, as bad as it is, that's only an introduction to the main problem, which is the Lithium staff. Lithium is paid by Sony to operate the functions of the forums. They keep users from spamming, help users find the information they seek, and general functions of supporting an online community based around Sony's Playstation products. However, you need to understand the people who are operating the forums are low paid high school graduates, and maybe a handful of those going to community college. They are young, inexperienced, and full of anger & rage at their parents for forcing them to pay rent. These folks work hard to CENSOR, SILENCE, MODIFY, OR BLOCK any criticism of Sony and it's platforms. This including Home. (This also includes banning, warning, and editing the signatures of ANYONE CAUGHT LINKING TO OR SUPPORTING THIS BLOG)
   
2. Home Community Management. (HCM) These are another crew of inexperienced hacks. To clarify direct information, I have been informed by insider sources that two of the main HCM (CydoniaX & Locust_Star) have -zero- clue what they are doing. I was also informed GlassWalls is mediocre at his position, but better then the others. What the Home staff will do in order to maintain a level of order is deliberately harass "trouble users" and provoke them into some type of interaction that will cause them to get banned. They ignore any and all tech support related questions, chiming in rarely when people make too much noise. (Or sometimes to cover the problem they'll lock or delete tech support posts) They also create user groups and situations to obtain free ideas and services. One being their failed HVC (Home Community Volunteer) program. Somehow they didn't see how giving a bunch of teenage kids free range to act like authority figures would backfire.
3. Home Development Staff. Seriously, how long does it take to patch up the collision detection in Red Bull Beach? How hard is it to make the Bride Hair Wig stay on the avatar's head? How difficult is it to modify the way the wardrobe is handled? The answer: Not that hard. As a developer myself, I could have had all the issues that plague most of Home finished in a few Hours. Bigger ones a week or less. These aren't complex issues.
   

The efforts of Home users to promote progress have been quieted at every possible angle. You can create as many clubs as you like, post on the forums until they ban you as well. Nothing is going to happen because the combined efforts of the HCM/Lithium will quiet you. They will censor you. If need be, they will remove you in order to protect their interests. Their interests are simple: To look good, and to maintain job security.

Let us ask you this. If you walked into a McDonald's and ordered a meal, wouldn't you be disappointed if your french fry box was empty? Wouldn't you be disappointed? Wouldn't you voice an opinion? What if when you complained about your missing food they banned you from ever entering again? Chances are you'd call up the people above them and complain. So why is Home any different? It's a free service sure, but how many of you have invested money into it? Created friends and social circles? And it could all be taken away for something as simple as irritating the staff, or in some cases their friends. So let's continue the McDonald's analogy. Say the Manager of your local McDonald's was friends with someone you didn't get along with. When you both are in the restaurant, this other person gets much better treatment. They get free food items, they get their requests filled before you, and they can break the rules and go walk around in the kitchen with the staff, while the staff ignores you. Pretty upsetting. But this is exactly what is happening in Home. You are paying money that you work to earn, and in return you are being treated like garbage, ignored, and plain blown off. And if you have the GALL to speak up, you are placed on someone's shitlist where you have to walk on broken glass in hopes that you're not banned.

THE MOMENT YOU SPEND ONE DIME ON HOME YOU ARE A CUSTOMER. AS A CUSTOMER YOU DESERVE THE RIGHT TO BE HEARD AND TREATED WITH RESPECT.

So we urge everyone, if you are upset, make some noise. Get loud. They might be able to censor & silence you on their turf, but their turf is just a grain of sand in the sea of the internet. Start a blog, make some calls. Remain anonymous if you have to, but understand, none of these "improvement clubs," debates, or forum posts are going to get the job done. You need to get out there. What is the point of this? Are you trying to discourage someone from joining us in Home? The man asked whether he should go on Home. How does this answer help him or the community?

Worst. Troll. Ever. Just because you were stupid & poor enough to join the military, doesn't mean the rest of us should feel any need. You recruitment happy assclown.

All testing and demonstrations are done on a closed server of which maybe only a couple hundred people have access to. Thus when we get an update, though it did work perfectly on the closed server, it may have issues once it goes live due to the stress of a few million people on the live servers at the same time. Most of these issues will be resolved and some may not.

For me, it's a small price we pay due to the current technology. With that being said, any issues I have ever encountered have been resolved due to the Developers, the Maintenance Technicians and people in the Home community. Currently, minus lag issues, everything works perfectly for me.

What was that I called you earlier... oh yeah: "a spineless brown-noser who encourages criticism not be said aloud." Any issues have been resolved? That is the biggest load of crap ever said on Home. Anyone with 2 minutes and a brain can check the support forums and see there are issues dating back half a year that remain unaddressed.

Though it might shrink as more people become aware of the consequenses of being reported, the problem will still continue as more people join the community. Changing an avatar's sex (hiding) will not do anything to help the community, but it may only relieve an individual's problem.

Translation: Shut up and take the sexual harassment. Don't like it? Use the broken report function. If the report function is in a good mood it only takes 20-120 seconds for each report, and nothing happens to the offender in the meantime. Kudos Dumbass_max.

If I get an inappropriate message (mail) from someone, I "protect" it and report them immediately. From their profile, a few of these people seem to have been hardcore gamers with many trophies. However, soon after they have been reported, they no longer earn trophies, even over a year later.

They have. It is up to us be proactive and use the tools that they have given us to report inappropriate language and behavior. They do suspend and banish people.

The non-functioning tools?

The nightly game launching events have actually been successful. Many people are not aware that they have this option available to them and this event introduces them to it. This event is a way to promote game launching from within Home and to promote some very interesting games.

Having the event at Listen @ Home is a good idea for two reason. One: Central Plaza is where many people (new and old) hang out or pass through. Two: The instructions on how to contact a host and the name of the featured game are there.

All of the hosts for these nightly events are picked by Home's Managers as volunteers. They are giving their own time in order to support game launching, the community and Home. As volunteers, they are not forced to perticipate if they are unable. And if last minute real life matters occure, they may be forced to withdraw for the evening.

Remember, the Volunteer Hosts are doing this service for you/us.

Oh, how kind. Sony was nice enough to start a program for game launching using the free labor of it's users. And success? Lol. I have RARELY seen people stay on those for more then a few minutes. The game launching is 100% a huge whopper of a failure. But you wouldn't admit that you chickenshit yesman.

Sometimes I think I am in the wrong world because I do not have issues like many people seem to have.

Everything I have bought or won works as advertised. From my spaces and clothing to my items. To be sure, I have had problems before, but they were usually taken care of within a few hours or days. Sometimes help was provided by the Home staff, and other times by members of this community.

For that I thank the Home Team and the people who populate the forums and Home.

As I stated before, I do not use the Block or Ignore feature. When someone steps between me and someone else, I politely and respectfully ask them to step aside. If they don't, then I inform them that I will report them for disruption. More often than not, they do leave. The small number that don't leave get reported.

Lemme state this, and this can easily be researched. YOU CANNOT BE REPORTED FOR "STANDING BETWEEN" people. No one has the right to tell you where you can and cannot be.

But perhaps I'm being unfair. I am only pointing out what a yellowbelly stooge he is. Perhaps since he has such great advice ALL THE TIME IF YOU WANT IT OR NOT, the support forums should be packed with helpful gems.

Some people are not having problems and some are. That's just the way it is at this time.

Brilliant. Next is a message posted in the main support forum. Why? Because nothing ever gets answered in the Home support forums. It was moved to the Home support, but not before Conrad dropped another set of lips on the HCM's anal glands:

"The experts show up there." That's a riot. Would be funnier if it wasn't so completely false. Check the count up widget on the right of this blog to see how long it's been since any Home staff even POSTED in the support forums. What's also amusing about Conrad's "tech support" is he keeps pasting the sony tech support info over and over and over and over again. Anyone who's been on the phone with those folks knows two things:

1. You won't receive any help
2. You'll be told to post on the Home Support Forums

Bottom line, Conrad_Max is the worst of the worst when it comes to obvious buttkissing. He is also a HCV, so if you see him out there, make sure to ask lots and lots of questions. Make him work for that ugly shirt. And Conrad, before you go bawwing, ask yourself this: WHY CAN YOU NOT STOP GIVING AWFUL AND BIASED ADVICE. You are terrible at it.

*Disclaimer: For those who whine and cry about personal attacks, etc, stfu. We will continue to do whatever the hell we please, whenever the hell we want. Update on Earlier Post

An update from earlier. We are very pleased that Mrs_Laporta decided to brag. Because her Twitter page led us to her Myspace page. (Warning, every single image, flash, and javascript from 2004 is on this thing. Took 3 tries to get info from it due to Firefox crashing.) Anywho, it turns out she is too young for the HCV program. Jim777 was removed due to him being 17 at the time. We are calling for the immediate revoke of Mrs_Laporta's status.

Last point: I'd like the HCM to answer the question (LMAO like they ever answer any) Why can this person, who who's writing is barely legible, and obviously not that bright, get access to codes for free items? HCM can't fix the countless complaints from people who are missing items? So many folks get shafted for the things they pay for, and when they attempt to get what they pay for, they are told "all sales are final." But you can create codes to spoil a 16 year old girl. GlassWalls, if you ever read this, I'd like to know what it is that's so special about a 16-year-old girl, that you feel the need to give her gifts.

Ever have any Doubts?

Remember when the HCV were up in arms because we dumped on them about using their connections to alienate and abuse other users? We insisted that they were part of an inappropriate hierarchy, developed by the Home Team in an effort to do even less work?

Then you will also recall how they stated over and over and over again how they received nothing for their efforts, and had no connections to the moderation staff.

Even the HCV FAQ posted on the Home Main Forum insists that "They are NOT paid for their efforts." Well, luckily, just like other HCV, they're stupid and blog about things. Such is the case of Mrs_Laporta. Directly from her Twitter account:

Non-Caring mods, Importing Items, & Hypocrites

Going over the last few days of stupid stuff, here's some interesting stuff sent in:

So, you think that importing items are against the rules? Well, it is. Doesn't prevent home users from abusing rerouting techniques to get things from Japan. But is that limited to hackers and exploiters?

What you see above is CydoniaX, HCM staff. Who is that she's dancing with? A person with a suit that isn't available to North American users. So, while they are banning folks who abuse exploits and hack in items, they're still taking breaks to have fun with users who do the same thing. The difference? Personal relationships with users.

Here is CydoniaX once again, this time importing items herself. Wearing items not available in North America.

I promised I'd get up close and personal with some of home's self appointed elite. Now here's the first! I decided to go for Jim777, since #1 we just covered one of his laughable posts, and #2 he decided to leave a mean message in the comments of one of our posts. Mean boy. So, here's Jim777 in all his elitist glory:

#1 you're not a mod, don't tell people what to do. #2 we have made great progress exposing that nothing will come of talking to the moderators.

The first thing a lot of people say to me is that I brown nose, that I am always trying to look good for the mods and managers. While I think everyone should conduct themselves in a civil and nice manor to say that I am posting just to look good is just not the case. For example when I joined the HCV program a lot of my fellow HCVs filtered their posting a bit more, posting less, posting more info when they did post, and only posting when they felt they needed to. I however did not, I felt that if the program would demand that I change my posting style then I would not be comfortable with it any longer. So I continued posting in my usual manor. And yes I made goof ups on occasion as I always do and will continue to do, and yes maybe I posted when I shouldn't have, to err is human. But I take pride in the fact that I did not alter my posting style to try and please the community or management.

People often tell me that I agree with Sony to much, that I blindly follow them. Again this is not the case. The difference is that when I have a complaint or a disagreement I usually don't post it.

It's easier to just shut up and take it, isn't it. I don't know if I'd explain on a forum that I was a coward, but to each their own.

I also feel that due to the overwhelming number of complaints on the forums that Home tends to get bashed a lot, and since the management is busy getting development on fixing these issues, updating Home, reading these forums, having lives outside of Home, being in world to make sure everything is as it should be and eating delicious cake, that they just don't always have the time to reply to everyone. So I try to act as the voice of reason and help people out however I can to make these forums a place you can receive info as well as give.

That is not the mods jobs, mods or moderators enforce the TOS, devs or developers fix Home and make new content.

Wait, you actually know what it is the mods do? Weird, NO ONE ELSE DOES.

The devs certainly put alot of work into tiny details, from huge breathtaking views of waterfalls to a crack on a table Home is a treat for the eye.

All in all, I'll give Jim777 this. He isn't the worst of the bunch, he seems like just a dumb kid trying too hard. Which is one of the reasons I picked on him first. I'm saving the people who are worse for later enjoyment. There are many people worse I will go after soon enough. However this is a prime example of a person who'd rather go with the flow then fight. I prefer the old fashioned approach, which is why I started this blog. To quote the Declaration of Independence:

That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Although rights of free speech and such don't apply in circumstances such as these, when you put enough people together who are sick of the cultural norm, things begin to happen.

Over Rated Self Importance

You eve notice the clothing people wear make them feel as though their opinions matter? Such is the case on home too. Although, much like a police uniform in real life, the horrid ugly red jackets give more power. Tha I can accept, even if the mods do a terrible job. What boggles my mind is those people who feel others are beneath contempt, simply because they weren't around for a fish hat, or a special shirt. These people suffer usually from a small personality complex. It's often refered to as a Napoleon complex.




With that in mind, I have decided I'm going to do a more personal project. And by personal, I mean I'm going to get very personal with people from home who believe they are superior to others. A few of you know who you are, and yes, you should worry. Because I plant to dissect your every sentence. You will be put on display, and people will look down on you, just the same way you look down and belittle others.

effinem + ChronosViper = Mathmatics of FAIL

They do nothing about it!! They just have a grand ol time glitching and because they are [removed] buddies with the staff they can do whatever the hell they want ;(

Wow, that's something, thanks for taking the time to send in those pix! Your contribution will be displayed for all to see. It's shameful that these are the same people who needlessly push around and bully other home users for tiny infractions, which allowing their friends to run around like unsupervised children. I'd also like to point out that this "effinem" is also glitching himself. He seems to be doing the large arm glitch. Also, what exactly is "effinem?" Is it like Eminem, who's initials are M&M? (Thus spelled out phonetically "Eminem") If so I find it ironic, because his initials would be F&M, which is perfect for a Failure Mod

Roll out the welcome wagon!

I just started this and the complaints are already coming. According to tips passed along, a handful of people witnessed a HCV (Home Community Volunteer) ignore and mock a newbie, then proceeded to take pictures with his friends. Name of ChronosViper. This is one of the things I stated in my blog opening. Members of the home leadership aren't doing their job. According to source ChronosViper was wearing his "Home Guide" shirt and chatting with his friends. The newbie approached asking how to get back to the Central Plaza. He was laughed at and ignored, as ChronosViper and his friends went into the Sodium One lounge where he could not follow. Passerbys eventually helped the newbie return to the central plaza.
