SCEA: December Was PS3 And PSN's Best Month Ever

Via Kotaku:

The holidays were kind to the PlayStation Family, with the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network bringing in more sales than ever before. The previously announced 1.7 million PS3s sold during the holidays aren't the only holiday milestone Sony's bragging about..

A statement from Patrick Seybold, Sony Computer Entertainment America's senior director of corporate communications and social media, notes that December 2009 was "the single highest selling month for PS3 hardware and software since its launch in the US," boasting a 90% increase in hardware sales, a 60% in software from the previous December.

And in terms of percentages that also confuse, the PlayStation Network had its "single highest revenue month, jumping 155% from December 2008 in North America." Sony says that Final Fantasy VIII was the most downloaded game of the month, with Q-Games' PixelJunk Shooter scoring the second place spot.

With NPD Group's monthly U.S. sales report due tomorrow, we're sure to have better comparisons for you so that you may more accurately fight the console war on each monolithic corporation's behalf.

SCEA: December Was PS3 And PSN's Best Month Ever

What does this mean? It means the PSN, which includes Home is making money. Lots of money. What does it mean for you? It means that they have the monetary resources to invest into Home. This includes, but isn't limited to: Fixing bugs. Hiring better staff. (Or at least some good staff on top of the bad ones they have) Obtaining more talented developers. List goes on for miles. Make sure to let them know we are aware of their income.

Home Moderation Terrified of Home-Watch!

We've gotten swamped with multiple emails from folks who have been censored. Rather then anything we'd love to do a little jig and get on with the mockery, but I'll post emails instead.

Email #1:
the removed my fucking signature and deleted a thread i made. bastards
Email #2:
i came across a link to your site in the home general forums, can't help but appreciate the bulk of everything you are posting there, keep up the good work and perhaps some competent people will be hired to run home and moderate. and oddly enough when i navigated back to the forums the post with your link had been deleted.
Email #3:
they deleted the last one i made 'cause it had the home-watch url in it. here's the message i got:

Please refrain from advertising and posting links to inappropriate content (inappropriate language) on the forums. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Email #4: (And my favorite, from a Sony Employee)
dude, lol. you are pissing a lot of people off.your blog is hush hush.but everyone is talking about it quietly.a bunch of us are laughing our asses off aroud here. please keep up , most of us hate home with a passion.
Other then you guys at Sony not being able to put together an email that can be read, you guys are awesome for shooting this to me, and thanks again for letting me paste it.

Censorship is abound! Seems we must have ruffled some feathers, because we're even being chatted about at Sony. Wow. Awesome job everyone. To celebrate, I've made a new sig image without our url, so we can avoid those hyper-sensitive feelings of the Home staff.

Inside Information

Recently we have been in contact with a handful of Home insiders. We WILL NOT be sharing their names, positions, or any other info about them.

But we would like to share the fact that we are now inside home, and getting a look at the inner workings. We have info about the development process, the process used for testing, we even have some REALLY interesting things we've learned about the HCM, with a lot of it focused on CydoniaX. It would be kind of pointless to just start listing everything we've learned over the last week. However over time we'll share it bit by bit as it applies to specific situations.

Expect it to be juicy, and expect it to come out in future posts!

I'd like to say it's been an interesting day today. I posted a topic specifically to irritate a healthy flow of traffic. Meanwhile, quietly added Sitemeter to the blog. I'd like to say hello to my hometown of Salamanca, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; Hayward, California; Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Plano, Texas; Port Republic, New Jersey; Jackson, Ohio; Lebanon, New Hampshire; Breckenridge, Colorado; Lenoir, North Carolina; Ruskin, Florida; Springfield, Virginia; Staten Island, New York; Issaquah, Washington, and all the many others.

And a special hello goes to the hits I received from SCEA. Hi guys! Thanks for reading. I hope we helped bridge the gap.
