i myself had this problem once in the past, i fixed it by using a small amount of superglue on the edges of the processor, just enough so it sticks firmly in place but not too much that it blocks the thermal paste between the heatsink and processor

Hmm, as far as I know they don't offer RSS feeds...
But that's expected after all, they would lose oh-so-much money if people used aggregators rather than viewing their ad-filled site...

Unless they change the power supply the only thing really to update is either the price or the capacity.
I thought they had fixed the capacitor problem. The first batch (1 year+) was dying, but have they continued to die for newer models?

If its video editing for after, with a mind to move towards after effects.
While the CPU is important to this, Really you should look more at the RAM your going to use and how much (lots is the answer), and IMO the most important thing, the GPU.
In a windows i7 machine, I run 16GB of DDR3 1600MHz ram, and use a PNY Nvidia Quadro FX card. (the 4800 if your interested)
This made the biggest difference to the editing suite. The difference between gaming cards and professional editing cards is immense. The pro cards do things like effects on the fly, and rendering on the fly, and these are the bits that really make multiple layers of 1080p possible. And I have a friend who runs the 3800 in his, and again this works fantastically.
And as well as the GPU you can start to look at addional cards, we've been using the matrox CompressHD card for a while. And absolutely love it.
Also you should look at hard drive arrays. An SSD for the boot drive and to run the programs from. Then a scratch drive, for after effects, plus a media storage drive, plus a project drive, plus a backup drive. (which if you stick the SSD in the second optical drive bay it all just abouts fits)
But yeah, the other point to note out is that a good few of the plug-ins that we use for Adobe Premiere and after effects are only single processor enabled. so 20 cores at 2.2Ghz isnt going to be as fast as 2 cores at 3.5Ghz. (for those effects at least)
Video effects, and especially at 1080p are going to be huge, and really test out a system.

The purpose of a copyright is to protect works of authorship as fixed in a tangible form of expression (i.e. a thing not an idea). The art, photos, writing and design you make fall under this category. It protects people from copying or redistributing your work.
The purpose of a trademark is to protect words, phrases and logos used in federally regulated commerce to identify the source of goods and/or services. It represents an enterprise or a business. It protects your company from other companies trying to look like you. In the case your your logo, it would be used to prevent others from using a confusingly similar mark or name.
It is common for certain types of expression (like a brand) to sit under both copyright and trademark. If you are trying to protect a title, slogan, or other short word phrase, generally you want a trademark as a copyright does not cover such types of expression alone.
If your design is intended to identify the source of goods or services (i.e. a logo), it should be trademarked.
While copyright registration is primarily an administrative process (you fill out a form and send it off), trademark registration is an adversarial process.
It includes a substantive review of potentially conflicting marks in order to prove your uniqueness within a market segment.
For example: say you are doing a trademark search for a local motorcycle tuner/builder called "Redwing Motorcycle Company". During the trademark vetting process you would probably get an argument from Redwing Shoes saying the name/mark is too close to theirs (Redwing does sell a series of Motorcycle boots, so they may have some grounds here even though they are in a very different market). You might also get a call from Honda saying "We are a large motorcycle manufacturer. We have a famous product line called the 'GoldWing'. Our corporate color is Red." You will have to fight it out.
Other companies will be aggressive in protecting themselves. US trademark law works under a "use it or lose it" principle. Read up on how Carol Shelby lost the rights to his famous Cobra car design. So many people copied it (without him going after them) that it was ruled that he no longer owned it.
So, understand that if you do seek a trademark, you need to be willing and able to protect it.
The key thing to understand is that Copyright and Trademarks are proven and protected in very different ways. Copyrights are low-hanging fruit and should absolutely be done. Trademarks are a longer, more expensive process and you want a good Trademark lawyer to guide you through the process.

I was just giving you a hard time, it's the nature of my personality. ;)
Not a problem,
I have to say that my girls are SO excited to head to Disney world. They were 3 the last time we went and they had fun then. Now that they're 5 they are climbing the walls waiting to go. This vacation is for them pure and simple and I'll have so much fun watching them enjoy themselves.

Google fell to the number three spot despite generating record levels of discussion for the brand, according to General Sentiment.
Who is General Sentiment? Is he in charge of the mobile wars? And what is the Impact Value ranking? Is it this:
http://www.valuebasedmanagement.net/methods_impact_value.html
And I guess this is how General Sentiment determines what makes the cut:
http://www.generalsentiment.com/what-we-do.html
I love the line:
Sentence by sentence, General Sentiment detects the sentiment in each document related to a topic

It appears that OS X will truncate any password longer than 7 characters to only 8 characters. In other words, it's an 8-character overflow. This problem is global in that it affects the Login Window, Screen Effects, Keychain Access, and even network logon security. For anyone with long password phrases that have easily-guessable words in the first 8 characters, this is a problem. Since "MacintoshOSXIsMoreSecureThanMicrosoftWindows" only needs to be entered as "Macintosh", gaining unauthorized access is very simple with a common name attack. Of course, we all have passwords that are a combination of letters and numbers, including a mix of upper- and lower-case characters. ;)

My older son has also entered a Pokemon phase*, and has an April b'day. Since I've actually started playing the stupid games myself, I'm going to buy both play one myself and let him play the other one all by himself (for once).
*The younger one's favorite phrase is (Pokemon? agaiiin?), so he may skip this phase even though his tasts to date have followed his brother's quite well. He's coming out of a Wiggles obsession, so I expect a superheroes phase next.

A certain company is trying to shift product udpates away from major Expos. They've found that the lack of orders directly preceding an expo, as well as the expo dates not agreeing with major edu buying schedules have made this a bad idea.
You can expect to see new software releases at all Apple expos, and sometimes product introductions, but I think that will be it in the future.
This allows for a more consistent sales pattern, and keeps you guessing as to when updates arrive.

Heh.
Where'd ya get the Xeons? They sound like some nice beasts.
I'd love to have the Dual Processor one for my video crunching/gaming machine.
The dualie is our back-up rip at work [prepress]. It doesn't do anything all day long, just sits there ready in case the primary should fail. Such a waste of a machine.
The other Xeon in my new PC at work, which is way underutilized, or was until I put Folding on it.
Both were done with the permission of my boss and the IT guy.
you can also run two instances of folding on a machine with hypertreading, that could possibly be more easy.
Exactly what we did today. Thanks.

This is what alot of people believe but try and find a 1080p HDTV in the UK that can display 1080p from a source other than HDMI. All the major brands of HDTVs I looked at will only display a 1080p from HDMI although you can use component to display 1080i. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying a 1080p set though.
Matt
Fair enough, though there still aren't many sources of 1080p content in the UK.
