Interesting College Football News

So an interesting report was released by "The Stanford Daily" today regarding the financial data concerning schools that participated in BCS Bowls.  You can see the whole article here, but in essence it says that most teams that played in BCS Bowls ended up in the red.  I thought the whole idea of going to a BCS Bowl (besides the notoriety) was all the financial benefits that the school gets as a reward.  Here's the breakdown according to "Stanford Daily"

Check that out...the two teams that played in the National Title lost more than $900,000 combined.  Stanford mentioned that there are other financial benefits like increased ticket sales, but teams like Auburn, Oregon, and Va Tech already sell out every game, so that benefit is out the window.  Poor UConn got crushed in their BCS Bowl and they lost more than 1 3/4 million dollars.  I just found this very interesting

In other college football news, Michigan is working hard to bring its alumni back into the fold.  Apparently under Rich Rodriguez, although he never forced them away, the lack of tradition under Rich Rod caused a lot of the alumni to distance themselves from the program.  Now Brady Hoke is trying to fix all that.  The focus has been on the teams history and the tradition of Michigan Football.  Let's just hope that remembering the record amount of wins and titles causes the current team to live up to the caliber of past teams...
