Rihanna using nudity as therapy or is she covering up the pain?

I was looking at the latest issue of GQ Magazine and was having a hard time figuring out who was on the cover. At first I thought it was another white woman attempting to hitch a ride on the Tiger Woods train. But then I realized that it was a pale-ish looking Rihanna. I didn’t know she was that light (keeping the black under wraps maybe)? Better yet, I didn’t know she was that naked?

I have been trying to understand Rihanna since the day Chris Brown used her as a punching bag. I didn’t understand when after the beating she was seen with Brown at the beach. I didn’t understand when naked photos (that she took of herself) of her came out a few weeks later. And now she’s on the cover of GQ Half Naked? Is this publicity for her album or is this how she really is? Is she supposed to be a role model for young girls? I don’t want to give her that title if it’s not something that she advocated for. But it seems that I see a lot of young girls listening to her music. Maybe the parents of those kids don’t mind her song content. Songs that talk about “getting her hair pulled” while having sex.

It’s not my place to determine how a person should act after they suffered abuse. But I personally find Rihanna’s behavior odd. Her recent actions are negating the seriousness of what happened between her and Chris Brown. You just can’t tell whether or not she understands what truly took place. Is she even bothered by what happened? I’m against abuse against women so it bothers me to ask the questions. But something isn’t right!!

I believe Rihanna’s handlers have done her a disservice. Instead of getting her counseling, they have decided to continue with “BUSINESS” as usual. Her handlers have her selling records, performing concerts, and doing interviews. Interviews that have her looking and sounding like a child. Her handlers may think that everything is back to normal but her actions tell a different story. Rihanna is in the public eye and she still suffers in private. Just like so many other young women her age that suffer from physical abuse.

My Open Letter to Lil Mama.

Lil Mama aka Niatia Jessica Kirkland

I know last week was a rough one for you. I wanted to talk to you about this sooner but I needed to get my thoughts together. I know being from New York you were excited to see your fellow New Yorkers representing at the MTV Video Awards. But under no circumstances should you jump on stage while people are performing. If that was the Wu Tang Clan, you would have gotten your tail whooped!! You know they roll 20 deep when they are on are stage. One time I thought GZA was performing but it was the hype man that holds the gold chains. You are a young lady coming of age and you need to display the class that comes with that. People have eluded to you being manly but I don’t see that. I see a tom boy that needs to find her inner woman. I suggest that you talk to Oprah Winfrey because she seems to know any and everything about being a woman. She knows about marriage too but I find that odd since she has never been married. But I digress…

Lil Mama, I also want you to think about using a different name. Your name is an Oxymoron and that is not cool for an entertainer. Even Biggie Smalls started calling himself Notorious because of his command of the English language (people in the hood are going to be mad about this......I got jokes people). I hope that you take this constructive feedback and actually use it to your benefit. I don’t listen to any of your music and don’t plan to. But I hate to see a black girl lost.

Sincerely,

Citizen Ojo

Momma should have never inhaled when she came up with this!!!

Sometimes black folks try to get creative when they name their children. I can understand wanting your children to stand out. But that’s what academics, athletics and arts are for. We do an injustice to our children when we give them crazy names. Instead of standing out they end up looking foolish.

Case in point: Marijuana Pepsi Sawyer

I am impressed that she was able to be successful with so much against her. A name follows you everywhere you go. Some names open doors and others close them. Personally I’m tired of hearing about black folks giving their children crazy “A” names. People that disagree with me will say I’m under the influence of the white man. That is their opinion and I’m okay with that. But I dare anyone to tell me that naming your daughter after weed and soda is okay!!!!

Chicken 'n' Po-Po

Get a load of this lady? She had some issues with McDonalds and decided to call the police. It wasn’t issues with the McDonald’s Family but McDonalds the fast food joint. Apparently they ran out of her favorite item.

The part that puzzles me is why they wouldn’t give her money back. When did food swaps become an option? If they don’t have a Cheeseburger, now you can get a McRib? The no refund/eat what we have and like it/is new to me. I’m use to the shake machine being down though. That shake machine must be really old. How can a shake machine always be down? Is it really even called a shake machine? I guess I call it that because it’s easier than saying Model 614SAS.

Another typical unwed mother for the Republicans to complain about…….oops, my bad.

What happened to the wedding of the year? Does Alaska sell contraceptives made out of moose skin? Does her mother still only support abstinence only education? What is really going on?
