The public schools are rotten but it ain’t the apples on the teachers desk!!!

Where did all of this foolish talk of firing bad teachers because of poor student performance come from? The Public School System has been horrible for awhile now (if you listen to the mainstream media). All I hear about locally is parents complaining about busing and schools. On the flip side, I hear politicians complaining about teachers. It’s the never ending circle of dog chase tail. This is the part where John and Jane Q. Public Citizen shakes their heads and wonders how did things get this bad? I don’t know the when but the how is not hard to figure out. Yes there are bad teachers and yes some public schools are underfunded. But why are we not talking about the KIDS!!!!


Yes, the kids!!! Politicians (i.e. Mayors, Congressmen, State and U.S. Senators and School Board Members) dance around this subject every time education is brought up. I guess they are afraid of their poll numbers dropping. Because as we all know, a politician loves their polls like a stripper. If someone hasn’t told you by now, these kids in school are bad as shiggidy!!! They are like future criminals, and prostitutes in training. But don’t take my word for it – ask your local teachers. I talk to people that teach in public schools and they have frightening stories that would scare Stephen King. I know a teacher that had her car vandalized by a student. Another student actually told the same teacher to suck his D*#$! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – things done changed!!!


Who do we have to blame for this: These raggedy “A” parents that are giving birth to these miscreants. Some people shouldn’t be allowed to be parents. It just shouldn’t be an option for some people. They should have to go ask permission from some governing source. I know some people will think that’s Republican like but dammit it’s true. These are the same parents that can’t won’t come to parent-teacher conferences. And God forbid if they do come, they are hostile and ready to fight. You can spot their children in the classroom because they’re the ones that can’t read. If a teacher wonders why their 4th grade student dresses like a hooker, they can get all of their answers when the student’s parent finally comes in. I’ve heard stories of parents dressing like they worked at a strip club. I’m not hating on strippers but they could at least dress up a bit. How hard is it to get a pair of slacks and a blouse from Belks? People are just giving birth and hoping that things work out. Parents aren’t reading to their kids and they damn sure aren’t providing structure. These students have too many distractions at home. Students are coming to school wondering why daddy is missing in action or why do different men visit mommy at night. Throw in the lack of parenting and you have the perfect storm.


So until we address the real issues, we will always be talking around this subject. You can fire the teachers all you want to get rid of the bad teachers. You can even implement pay for performance and unfortunately you will get rid of some of the good teachers. But with all this firing going on, who is going to fire the parents?

A day of Regime Change - The Overthrowing of a County School Board.

Burke County School Board Chairwoman Tracy Norman must be legally blind. I take that back because that is offensive to blind folks. Even Stevie Wonder would have seen the writing was on the wall. Norman was the main conspirator in getting rid of popular School Superintendent David Burleson. Did I mention that Superintendent Burleson was “POPULAR?” People that understand the power of voting are dangerous people. They put fear into the hearts of elected officials. These voters can’t be fooled with a lot of razzle dazzle. Handshakes and empty promises don’t work with this group. You either do what they want or end up without a job. So in last Tuesdays North Carolina State election, Chairwoman Norman took an “L” with a major league drubbing. She lost to the winning candidate by a 14 – 1 margin. Susan Stroup, the winning candidate pledged to change current school board policy. So guess what happened to the incumbent school board members that were against Norman’s decision to oust Burleson? They all were re-elected. And guess what happened to the 1st time candidates that were running (here is a hint – they support Burleson). The voters spoke last week and politicians heard them. I wonder did other North Carolina voters hear them as well.

What a week!! 12/1/08 – 12/5/08

This week was the worst!!! There were numerous Job layoffs or as CEO’s call them “job reductions”. When you are out of a job, you really don’t sit around worrying about semantics. President Elect Obama rolled out more of his “Super Friends” to the world. Obama is steady filling up his presidential cabinet while President Bush’s cupboards are bare. I remember when people didn’t want Obama to mention his name and President in the same sentence. Now they are crying out for him to take charge. The last thing we need is for two people pretending to be president. We already have one person that fits that description.

Alan “Kamikaze” Keyes, a conservative crackpot, has filed a lawsuit to withhold California electoral votes until Obama proves he is a U.S. Citizen. Yes……….(I say with embarrassment) Alan Keyes is a black man. This is the same Keyes who lost a 2004 Illinois Senate race to Obama. He actually moved to Illinois to run against Obama. Yes……….(I say with extreme embarrassment) Keyes never lived in Illinois…NEVER! The Republicans probably figured “well It’s just one black guy” so let’s send him out against Obama. Keyes has become the Black Republican Canary (no not a superhero but a super zero). They send in Keyes (like a canary) into the coal mines (political races he can’t win) to test for toxic fumes (to lose). Republicans can then pat themselves on the back and say they are diverse. Keyes needs to stop chasing Obama around discrediting him. It’s just not cool. Keyes will never end up on the cover of Ebony for the top 25 blacks with swagger. Keyes and these other loons need to drop these lawsuits and petitions. Obama would not have gotten this far if he was an illegal alien. His mother is from Kansas for crying out loud!!!

Another week of watching those kooky automobile CEO’s aka “The Big 3”. Why would you drive all the way from Detroit to Washington in a compact car? If they could afford a PR Firm, they would have known to go coach on the first trip. After years of creating cars that needed to be refueled every 2 days, we are officially in a crisis (per the financial books of the Big 3). I wonder did the CEO’s sit around saying “those silly Japanese, do they really think those miniature cars will sell”. These CEO’s had a lack of foresight and were not able to prepare for the future of the automobile. So we are supposed to hand them a check because they now have a plan? I’m all for throwing people out once they show you they are incompetent. The unions that work for these companies are feeling the heat as well. They better get their stories together or they might be going to Washington by Greyhound. I just don’t know if going the MC Hammer Bankrupt route will fix anything either. Due to the lies that we have been told so far, I don’t trust any of these Economists. Citizen Wifey handles the family finances so maybe I should consult her. At least she won’t wait a year to tell us we are in a recession.

Saxby (my name sounds like a Saxophone mixed with Zaxby’s Restaurant) Chambliss won his run-off election with a whopping 57 percent of the vote. The Georgia Senator was talking a lot of trash after his victory. If he was a better politician, he wouldn’t have been in this predicament. The person he was running against must have been 7th on the depth chart of available politicians. The Democratic Party had a lot of ATLiens to choose from to run against Saxby. Usher, Jermaine Dupree, Young Jeezy, Andre 3000. Georgia proved that black folks won’t come out to vote if Barack Obama is not on the ticket. In Clayton County (which has a heavy African American population) Jim Martin received half the votes he did in the November election. It appears that we have yet to comprehend the power that voting gives us (i.e. special interest groups and lobbying). Yeah, this week really sucked…..
