Every time White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs talks, he makes me miss C.J. Cregg (i.e. a television character that was a White House Press Secretary). When a fake Press Secretary does a better job than the real one, it only means one thing – someone needs to be fired!!! I’ve never liked Gibbs in his current position. He talks to people in a flippant manner and occasionally puts his foot in his mouth. I also haven’t forgotten how he disrespected April Ryan. I know he got the job because he was rolling with President Obama from the giddy up. But when a person isn’t qualified for a job, it really shows. No matter how hard you try you just can’t cover up incompetence. If you don’t believe me, do you remember Michael Brown? Gibbs again showed his ignorance last week but he also showed something else. As suspected, the Democratic Party has an “I’ll call you when I need you” stance when it comes to their constituency. It is even worse when it comes to their most loyal base – African Americans. Last week Gibbs complained about the “professional left” and their complaints regarding Obama. He also said that “these people ought to be drug tested.”
So what is the professional left you might ask? Well the mainstream media says that it’s the liberal media that he was complaining about (i.e. Keith Olbermann and friends). But I think some other people could have been lumped in that category as well. The Congressional Black Caucus (actually any black person that takes issue with Obama), Gay Rights Activists, people for a sensible immigration policy, and Anti War Far Left types could fit in this “professional left” group. These groups voted for Obama in large numbers because he promised change. He also promised each of them a lil sumpin sumpin (as they say in the streets). Well everyone except black folks, he didn’t promise us anything. But again, no one asked him for anything either…but I digress…
It’s not uncommon for religious organizations, special interest groups, and minorities (that includes you too Latino’s and White Women) to tell the president what they want to see during their administration. Sometimes they get it and sometimes they don’t. I wish the president could only hold office for six years. That way we don’t have to worry about them running for office their second year in the job. If they had six years uninterrupted, maybe that would cut down on all the slick talk. Politicians’ spend two years telling you what you want to hear, then four years convincing you they won’t be able to fulfill their promises but you still will benefit from whatever they can do. Wait a minute!! Are we electing Presidents or Pimps? Opps…My bad…but again I digress……
The Obama Administration has no business being upset because people that voted for them are mad. It comes with the territory. President Bush (Junior) didn’t care who was mad at him. He would keep going along with Vice President Cheney’s his agenda regardless of what anyone thought. People are mad because they don’t think things are getting done. Didn’t Obama know that American’s are impatient people? We use microwaves to heat up food and drive thru’s to pick food up. We don’t like waiting on anything. Add joblessness, an endless war, greedy capitalists and you have a recipe for disaster.
Obama promised some of the following:
To ban lobbyists from working in his Administration (White House is full of lobbyists)
To televise debates on C-SPAN (most of the negotiating went on behind closed doors)
To End the War (um….er….eh….next!!)
To End Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (as if this is going to happen)
To provide a Public Option in the Health Insurance Bill (this concept went the way of the Dodo Bird)
SO AGAIN!! It should not be a surprise that his backers are upset. And these are just some of his promises. And God Forbid if you are black and have a complaint. You stand the risk of being chastised by other black folks. You also get ignored by the president himself. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for black folks to ask what is going on with the jobs (green jobs, manufacturing jobs, white collar jobs – any kind of jobs!!). Blacks make up the largest group of unemployed people (also a larger percentage of Obama voters) with black men in double digits. The Obama Administration won’t speak on race issues but will get involved with building permit issues for a New York City Mosque??? And you wonder why some black folks look at the White House with a *side eye*. I’m still waiting on Shirley Sherrod’s beer summit. I need for the Obama Administration to do us all a favor and stop complaining. People don’t want to hear you complain because you aren’t getting love. They want to see you produce. And if they aren’t happy with what you currently have done – work harder!!! The Democrats bragged about running the Senate and House of Representatives when Obama rolled into office. But they have struggled to get bills passed?? Blue Dog Democrats and Far Right Republicans are their problem, not mine!! So why do I have to keep hearing about people holding them back from carrying out their agenda? Either quit complaining or just quit!!! In other words: Don’t get into a fight if you think you are going to get bruised!!!
Observation #1 – If you want to bet against it don't. Plutocracy always wins.
It’s not a surprise that the Government seems impotent in their dealings with BP. Current members of the Obama administration have served on various boards for the company. A wise Muslim once told me that “Man can’t serve two masters.” In 2008 all I heard was change, but all I keep seeing is Lobbyists. I don’t expect President Obama to clean up the Gulf Region with a roll of Bounty. However, I do expect him to hold BP’s feet to the fire. If they can’t fix the problem, find someone who can!!
Observation #2 – You can't make them love you. You can only hope that they do.
Dwyane Wade’s unhinged wife is making quite a name for herself in the Chicago court system. Siohvaughn (don’t ask me how to pronounce it) Wade is currently on her 9th lawyer in her divorce case. Apparently Siohvaughn is not pleased with how the proceedings are going. Her strange behavior in and outside of court is becoming stuff of legends. She’s demanded the names of her husband’s sexual partners and accused him of giving her an STD. You know – the usual stuff people do when they go through divorce. I know that Siohvaughn was with Dwyane before he got on the gravy train so I understand her being a little upset. But all this other stuff is ridiculous. Adding fuel to the fire: Actress Gabrielle Union, Siohvaughns, main target of displeasure, is currently dating Dwyane.
Side Note: Not bad Sir, not bad at all
I wonder if the Siohvaughn will raise enough dust to throw shade on Union’s reputation? If Mashonda Tifrere’s crusade against Alicia Keyes isn’t working, I guess Union should be alright.
Observation #3 – Black politicians were not put on earth by God to save Black Folks. They are of course - Politicians!!!
The Dishonorable Kwame Kilpatrick is going up the river “again” for lying. I guess he wasn’t paying attention at his first trial. Kilpatrick was previously ordered to pay restitution to the city of Detroit but out of his mouth came the following in a recent court appearance:
*“I don’t know if my wife works.”
*“I don’t know the amount of rent.”
*“I don’t know who pays the bills.”
Side Note: Case Closed!!
Really dude? Spending time in jail earlier didn’t tell you that the legal system was serious? My message to Kilpatrick: “Don’t drop the soap.”
Observation #4 – Our pleasure might be someone else’s nightmare.
Television and movie star Gary Coleman passed away on Friday. Although he will forever be known for his role on “Different Strokes.” Coleman was in the acting game since the 70’s. Some “mainstream” Hollywood actors can’t even say that much. Coleman made us laugh when he was trying and when he wasn’t. His exploits outside of acting were bizarre and became punch-lines to many jokes. We never really knew what his real life was like. We didn’t understand what it was like for him to be forever seen as a child. Hollywood didn’t think he could play adult roles and damn sure didn’t think he could do breakout ones. All Coleman knew was acting so without that what else would he do? You add in some strange jobs choices outside of acting. Then throw in lawsuits against greedy people and the rest is history. I can’t say that I never clowned him upon hearing of his exploits. Nor will I try to act high and mighty on people who did. I just hope that now he finally gets some peace.
Now you can’t wear shorts when hiking at the Grand Canyon?? I guess 1st Lady Michelle Obama forgot to pack her camouflage evening gown. I guess this is something else for these racist dogs (Don’t get mad at me PETA) to complain about. You have people posting complaints to websites that can’t even spell. This American Education System isn’t worth a damn. It makes one race think that they don’t have a claim to America and the other that they created the earth in 7 days. It’s a birth certificate one week and shorts the next. It’s the GRAND CANYON not the Vatican. Let the haters hate because they have been doing it for 400 plus years.
In 2007, a Tornado decimated 95 % of Greensburg, Kansas killing 11 people. Since the event the town has been rebuilding as a “Green Town”. They are planning on becoming the first city in the United States to build all city buildings to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards. Because of their push to make the whole town “Green”, they have attracted national attention. The rebuilding of the town has been turned into a television show. The show is called Greensburg and it’s on its second season on Planet TV. In 2005, a Hurricane hit New Orleans, Louisiana killing over 1000 people with bodies still unaccounted for. The cities protection system against floods failed due to an archaic design. Therefore over 80 percent of the city was flooded (hence the bodies still unaccounted for). Since the event The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are rebuilding the flood protection system. Keep in mind these are the same people that built it the first time. There are empty lots where houses used to be and some properties are still unusable. Insurance companies screwed homeowners and re-housing allowances still haven’t been provided to homeowners.So let me get this straight. New Orleans is good enough to host The Essence Festival but it’s not good enough for a Television Show about the rebuilding of the city? This is what I think: It’s easy to mask problems and not deal with real issues. Just keep black folks dancing and having a good time. New Orleans needs real change and I don’t believe the city is getting it. Or maybe I’m making too much out of this? What do you think?

I think I mentioned that the photo makes her look like a rodent. I thought that maybe she should send him another photo but from the recent picture taken (above)…….gadzooks!!! Mr. Olbermann, you win Sir.
Mr. President Elect, I need to talk to you for a minute. I know you have a lot of important things to do. President Bush didn’t give you much to work with so I understand you are busy. BUT when you get things straightened out, I need to holla at you. Don’t be scared because I’m not going to ask for reparations. And I’m not going to ask you to change your choice for Secretary of Education. Even though I don’t think he is as qualified as others on your short list (i.e. Dr. Freeman Hrabowski). I would like to change the word African American though. Why do I have to hold a distinction with Teresa Hines Kerry because she is from Africa? I don’t even like Ketchup. But I digress…….I have a serious issue that I need you to deal with: College Football. I heard you talking about it on 60 minutes so I know that we agree. The BCS Bowl System is a complete fraud. Every sport in the NCAA’s has a playoff system. That is the only way for a team or individual to get a fair shot. It doesn’t make sense that undefeated teams are always left out of the National Championship. The championship is paid and bought by corporations. Insurance companies, restaurants, and banks all control this wicked system. How do you call a game the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl? This travesty has gone on long enough. Mr. Obama, please convince the NCAA to go to a playoff system. I know that the NCAA and Greedy College Presidents will be hard to deal with. You don’t have to STRONG ARM them like Dick Cheney would. You can use your people skills to help you with this challenge. You believe in people working together for a common solution so it shouldn’t be hard. If you end up accomplishing this feat, you will go down as the Greatest President ever!!!!! Okay maybe not ever but a guy can still dream can’t he?
