Wow. Apple is gradually starting to push more aggressive pricing. $1200 for a quad-core iMac is pretty decent. I'm happy with my "old" i7 for now. But the next iMac upgrade should be pretty amazing. (8-core base model?)

Once you are a market leader, it's almost impossible to be unseated in that market unless you make a lot of mistakes. It comes down to top-of-mind awareness. When you think portable music, what is the first thing you think about? iPod. 90% of consumers will buy from the brand with the #1 top-of-mind awareness, and it goes down steeply from there.
Apple needs the competition in order to evolve better products, but it's not a huge threat in terms of Apple losing the top spot. It may lose a few points of market share, but it will certainly continue to lead the market no matter how much cash Microsoft throws down. Apple is simply better at marketing, better at making things cool, and those are the two things that have made the iPod a success -- two things that, I might add, Microsoft is terrible at.
I wish Microsoft luck with this, but would advise stockholders to get out now.

Yes. I really wouldn't care if iPhone hardware upgrades came every 2 years. Just keep those iOS updates coming! That's the more important part now.

We are getting to a point where acceleration in software developments is going to take over acceleration in hardware development/production, if any.
Just as it turns out for the rest of Si-manu./PC/Tech industry, hardware has more or less reached a settling point. It's going to grow but not at a pace we have had until now. Software is more important; has always been imo.

From the local AT&T reps here in town they just do NOT give a crap. There network sucks, and the bigshots get there big fat checks and thats it.
They will NEVER catch up, heck they don't even have 3G in every place that they have there bars in the advertisements.
They have the iPhone deal/contract and do not give a dam, money rolls in and goes back out in dribs and drabs.
Come on Verizon and Apple.
I like another posters opinion, get a BB on Verizon and an iPod touch. Luckily my contract is over in December.

The GeForce 9800 will work from what I have seen, thy this thread for more info. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=461892) and here (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1322096) google "gpu folding" to find all kinds of info

I'd be highly skeptical if Apple will introduce LTE compatable chips even in 2012. Usually Apple takes it's time to implement technologies that all other phone makers in the market have implemented. They focus on ease of use and to the point where you don't even notice the technology (et. al. there latest iPad 2 commercial) They'll probably delay any LTE implementation until 2013.
How do you "notice the 4G technology" on current 4G phone? It just works. Jeez...give me a break here with just canned statements. :rolleyes:

These legal skirmishes haven't and won't result in any major untoward changes to Apple products. We all know this already.
I'm not disagreeing. I'm just disputing the idea that somehow the U.S. courts are biased towards Apple. Apple's court results don't indicate that.

oh ok. well we are now #60. so someone else must have passed us as well. looks like we're safe there for a couple months at least
We are only just a little bit slower than Lithuania we could retake them if we had a few more ppd. China is another story, that would take quite a bit higher ppd to get back in front of them, the longer they are in front of us the farther back we get :(

At first, I thought it was more stable.
However something seems to have gone wrong with my audio.
iTunes won't start, when I try it brings up an error message:
The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-200).
There is no sound in Flash videos (Safari or Chrome) is missing, or any sound in Jitsi (VoIP client), or in MPlayer (Video player).
Strangely enough, QuickTime has sound. Have no idea what's going on here.

Agreed. Who in their right mind would buy this? I don't care when the iPhone 5 comes out - I've stuck with my 3g for this long, I'm not going to cave now and get an iPhone 4 - even if it is white. It's all about contracts. If I'm going to be stuck with something for 2 years, it had better be the best available at the time of purchase.
Personally, although I really like Apple, I hope that iPhone 4 sales tank in the next month or two. 1 year and 3 months is too long to have the iPhone 4 be your flagship phone product - especially when you don't communicate it to your customers. But, knowing my luck, sales will take off when they don't announce anything in June. :(

Sad thing is the developer is now going to be charged $300 (Apple requires the developer to reimburse the user Apple's commission).
I think that in case of accidental/erroneous purchases, this is not true.
If it was, that would be so awful that I wonder why no investigation has been aimed at this practice before.

It remains to be seen if this change will affect many but this constantly happens to these third party partners.
That slight move of the volume button probably cost some of them a great deal in retooling expenses. Apple could have given them a heads up, but, oh god forbid anyone know what the great ones are up too.

iAdware apparently works by silently installing a system library. That sounds like a vulnerability that Apple could easily fix, by requiring Admin privileges, issuing a warning, and/or prompting for an Admin password.
