Some people will do anything to get a day off from work.

State Senator Robert Ford is sponsoring a bill that would require cities and counties in South Carolina to give their workers a paid day off for Confederate Memorial Day. Sen. Ford's bill won initial approval from a Senate subcommittee yesterday (CITIZEN OJO SAYS: NO SURPRISE HERE). Sen. Robert Ford is a black democrat (OJO SAYS: I’M SHOCKED). Roughly 10 of the state's 46 counties recognize Confederate Memorial Day (OJO SAYS: I THOUGHT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE – SURPRISED!!!). It appears that they took a quote from a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The member, Ron Dorgay endorses the bill whole heartedly and then goes on to say race relations have moved far from hatred but he hopes Ford's bill brings more understanding of the state's past.” "Even in school systems, they don't teach the correct history." What??? For years black folks have been complaining that schools don’t teach history correctly and now white folks are saying the same thing. You can find the rest of this story on Fox News online. Just go to their webpage and type in “Black Man Will Do Anything To Keep From Working.”

Anna Torv is Married!

It's true.

The "Fringe" actress reportedly married her co-star Mark Valley, who plays her former partner and lover on the show, over the holidays.

According to the LA Times' Dish Rag, a source on the set says that the couple had kept their relationship hush-hush, but since Valley is reportedly leaving the show, they shared their happy news with the cast and crew.

OK, "love interest" may be simplifying things just a wee bit. Mark plays her ex-lover John Scott, who turned out to be evil and died, but then came back to the series through hallucinations. (Just another day in the world of J.J. Abrams.)

So when and where did the wedding ceremony go down? And more importantly, who even knew these two were together at all?

Though Torv's rep declined to provide further details, sources on the show tell us the small, private ceremony took place over the holidays. The pair has been quietly dating for several months—so quietly that many of their fellow castmates and crew members weren't aware they were together.
Neither did the press. On Thursday, Valley took part in a conference call with reporters, and talked about his new bride (without referencing her as such). "I think [Anna] is just a fantastic actor and I really like working with her," he said. "She's my favorite on the show, to be honest with you." (We should hope so!)

We're told the ceremony took place within days of Mark's 45th birthday. Anna is 30.

What do you think of this real-life coupling? Anyone else surprised?
Torv, 30, and Valley, 44, met on the set of "Fringe." Torv plays FBI Agent Olivia Dunham who had dated Agent John Scott (Valley), who later proved to be a traitor and an agent of the Pattern.

Valley is best known as Brad Chase on "Boston Legal" and for starring on the short-lived "Keen Eddie." Torv is an Australian actress who co-starred as one half of a lesbian couple on "Mistresses," which will premiere on BBC America on Friday, Feb. 20.
