The U.S. Military has been using Apple Computers for years. I know for a fact they were crucial in the development of RFID tracking used in logistics. They were also more difficult to hack into and required less IT support to maintain them in the field.

I was more referring to mobile devices, but you're right. They're still not anywhere near as widespread as Windows machines (at least in the branches I interact with), but I guess that's the case pretty much everywhere.

Yes, but, the mac mini is designed as a desktop, since it needs an external monitor. Although, I'm fairly certain, that, as people posted above, this card reader was put in there for apple's video editing customers, since apple does make a nice business in that industry.
Although, the poster's comments still stand, particularly as the mini no longer has a security slot!

    License for $4?

Apple should license it for *free*.

They pretty much will. They do it w/ Airplay audio. $4 is only to cover extra cost of overhead needed to provide it to OEM's. No profit being made.

it took 10,000 pictures (99%) in auto setting, on my Canon T1i, to learn that my pictures sucks, and now I using Av, and have learned lots about f/stops, and lenses, photos are now starting to look better, learning buy seeing other pictures and how they did it.

Learned that iPhoto has nothing magical about it.

I am not big on post processing unless I want HDR or tilt-shift. I do very little modification.

Sure, but "Stream movies from your iPhone or iPad straight to the TV. Only on a Sony" sounds pretty great.

    Makes a great commercial too.

Yes, assuming Sony buys an exclusive... which is not the case here. Apple's goal appears to be to get lots of companies to play ball. Take out the exclusivity element, and it's just another benefit to tout (though not a headline benefit).

For example, my new Samsung has a whole bunch of apps. I can plug media right into USB ports and play it there. Etc. I wouldn't see this Airplay feature as any more "wow" than those features, certainly not enough to build much advertising around it in hopes of selling more TVs.

Again, not against building in Airplay, just not believing that it's a great idea to try to sell the licenses and get limited takers vs. give them away and get more takers. It seems like a technology you would want to entrench everywhere rather than yet another one that might get some limited adoption due to cost (even $4 per TV is a lot of added cost to a TV manufacturer).

According to IGNs Wii podcast the first 6 or so hours are pretty easy and then it ramps up to being really rather quite hard come the end.

Is Apple thinking that SD cards are going to become the new "floppies"?

Many people who exchange files by 'sneaker net' use CDs, but don't need the capacity of a CD. Plus while rewriteable CDs exist, they are pricey and most people don't use them. Most files are exchanged a barely used CD that then gets shelved and collects dust.

Imagine if people started exchanging SD cards. Initially lower capacities only will be available, but soon CD equivalent SD cards will be available, and soon after that the 1 and 2 TB cards.

If Apple can create enough demand for cards, then economies of scale will bring prices down as they become a standard commodity.

As others have mentioned the bigger capacity ones would have all sorts of uses besides the exchange of files. Wow.

    Hmm.

    I'm calling my shot.

WWDC will go down like this...

    1. "The Future of Mac OS X" = Lion
    2. "The Future of iOS" - iPhone 5

A lil hardware, a lil software, something for everyone. As for iOS 5, it will be previewed in April in a separate event. WWDC will set the spotlight on iPhone 5, and thus iOS 5 will not share the same stage, potentially stealing iPhone 5's thunder.

C'mon people, forget the rumors and look at what Apple has done in the past. It's not NCAA Bracketology....

This is, of course, due to the release of a new version of OS X every 18 months or so compared to the ridiculous periods between Windows versions.

    Agreed.

That's basically it. You pay the $100 because you don't want to read, learn and figure stuff out. Every Mac sold comes with enough software that you could set up your own services using your DSL or Cable Internet connection. Macs have web severs, FTP servers, email and "all the UNIX Stuff" You already have an iDisk right there on your desk that could be accessed from any computer that has a browser but it's easier for most people to pay $100 than to figure out how to make it work.

Although there is truth to what you are saying, broadband providers such as comcast do not allow for use of server activity on their networks from home computers. There is also the issue that some of us, such as myself, whom know how to do all that you explained simply just like to take a break form everything and keep it simple. Also, I have multiple computers and will gladly pay the annual fee for syncing.. 4 computers, desktop, office, laptop and wife's office computer all synced. .mac is more then web services.

As for the .mac mail, very happy with it, happy to see the old interface gone.. also love the new address book wish the bookmarks page design would have been updated too (although I only use this when traveling and it works so why fix it?).
