My wife is planning to go for H4 visa stamping in October. My question is can she go alone??????????? and what kind of documents she need. Our I-485 applications have reached USCIS on July 2nd. Any reply will be greatly appreciated.

When you make part payment you can request to keep either EMI same( reduce duration of loan) which is default or reduce EMI ( keep duration same). You can make 2 part payments. First one pay big amount and ask them to reduce EMI. Your EMI should go very low as length of loan is same.Make second part payment and then ask them to keep the EMI same. On second one if you keep balance in loan = 13 * EMI, you can best benefit !!

I don't mean to hijack the thread and my PD is 2010 anyway but I have a question also.
We know that we need to get all this vaccination thing done during 485 stage and a civil surgeon does that. But do we need to get all this done/verified at our regular physician before we go to the civil surgeon?
All of us have these polio, measles thing done but we don't have a record to show. So does the doc give us new/follow up shots to fulfill the criteria...and we take that to the civil surgeon.

There is a sudden change of plan. My company wants me in US for two months - March 15 - May 15. Then i have to go back to India till Dec 09 and come back to join work from Jan 2010. My questions -
1. Will i be facing any questions at the immigration (point of entry) when i come back on Jan 2010?
2. Any other situation or scenario that i should be aware of?
3. If i receive pay check for just two months in 09, will there be a problem when i file taxes for 2009?
4. How long can i stay outside US on a H1b visa?

Best way to do is to get it from AAA. If you are AAA member then you will 8 photos free and you can add your spouse for very minimum.

The FDIC has less than 50 billion left but I think if the govt can provide the banks with a trillion dollars then it will certainly bail out FDIC. No need to panic . FDIC will be the last bastion to fall. The govt would certainly not let it happen in any scenario.

One good news and one bad news. According to the AILA, the Conference committee took out both immigration riders from the H.R. 3043. It means that there will be no increase of the H-1B to $5,830. At the same time, there will be no recapture of EB-3 visa numbers for the Schedule A workers through this legislation.

It seems that all those whose application were sent to TSC, directly or indirectly, are very lucky. TSC has a way to fast-track the processing of applications. It is indeed much more efficient than NSC.

Well company A can file my GC but the issue is that the financial books of company A are not clear right now. Hence there are chances I-140 will be refused even if I file on EB1.
Company B is willing to take me but the issue is how do I join B. The options which I see are that B files my GC under EB2 or EB3 and I continue to work with company A till then. But then in EB2/EB3 the processing will take years till I get my EAD and join company B.

I will take an Infopass. Did you get a new Card or they just corrected in their system?
My lawyer advised me to take an infopass to correct the name of my dependent on the EAD card. Instead of "e", they placed "a" and he said that I might as well have the name on the FP notice and I-485 corrected.

"july 12 2007" will be the important date. It will be there as an USCIS stamp in the App. You can re-submit this app in Oct 2007 even if there is no visa available for your PD in Oct, 2007. It will be treated as if it was received on "july 12 2007".

Thanks for the advice. The problem is that my employer is really small and it will cost him money to do it all and if it doesn't work out he will have to eat up the cost. Here in New York it will be very expensive to advertise for the job and the chance of getting qualified replies are really high and of course this economy makes it even worse. Maybe I'm just a pesimist but I seriously have doubts it will work out.

My company has applied for my wife's L1B to L2 conversion on 28-OCT-2008 at Vermont Service Center. Anyone knows how much time typically it takes for this request?
When we are checking USCIS website, we are getting the following message continuously. My wife called to USCIS and USCIS said, case status is valid only in the system and the person does not know why that error message is coming.
"Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
Your case can not be found at this time in Case Status Online. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, you can either call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283, or you can send an e-mail to uscis.webmaster@dhs.gov."
We are thinking that probably lots of applications are pending and that could be the reason. Once they pick up, it will be changed to Case received and pending and finally a decision will come.
Do you know if this is something we need to worry about that something might be wrong which might cause a long delay? Actually my wife is pregnant and she can travel back by air only till January 15th, 2008 at the maximum. So we are just worried.
Do you know how much time it takes normally for this sort of application too? Also if at all, a rejection comes, will there be any legal way she can stay back till couple of months as she will not be able to travel back that time?
Greatly appreciate your help in this regard!!!!
